2. M/V AGUSTA DAY on JUNE 1ST (REPORT)
=======================================================
On Saturday June 1st we had an old fashioned fun time with a showroom full of several models of the famous brand MV Agusta. Many visitors from The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany came full of enthusiasm to our showroom in Bergambacht. They showed up for a good reason, they had a lot to see. We had borrowed several motorcycles among which a Magni racer, an original 600cc 4 cylinder, a 750S, several America's, but also the smaller models were represented. What to say about a 125cc Pullman, recently featured in the magazine "Motorrijwiel" just recently. Then the models 350S and 350 Ipotesi and the very early 125 two-stroke.
Some visitors drove their own MV's. Helped by the nice weather we also created a special parking space outside especially for the MV's.
Inside people were pleased with the assortment of new and used MV- parts from the MV warehouse. In short, it was a day not to be forgotten; you will not find this many MV's in one place any time soon.
This way, we again want to express our sincere thanks to the MV Agusta Owners Club Benelux for their wonderful cooperation, as well as all the other people who lend us their motorcycles, for this wonderful day. In our previous Newsletter we gave you a brief history of this famous brand. If you would like to read that again, please go to our web site , you will find it there.

3. RACE EXPERIENCES
=======================================================
On May 25th, we were present in Rockanje at the circuit of the HMV. Also on this day the weather cooperated, while in the rest of the country the rain never seemed to stop.
Harm participated in the Rigid/Webb class with his Norton International 350 from 1936. The Norton, being 66 years old, enjoyed the circuit and drove the rounds with much pleasure.
Rockanje is one of the nicest events of the HMV , pulling in some 10,000 visitors each year. We truly recommend it if you have never been there and are a classic racing enthusiast.
We booked another success in Rockanje. So far we hadn't gone public yet, but we sponsor Dick Kegel with his SEELEY/ABSAF (which one has been delivered by us in its totality).
We had wanted to wait for results first, but now it seems that Dick does such a good job in this class, we couldn't wait making this public! This with a new motorcycle, no experience and no extra tuning either.
Next follows the report from Dick Kegel:
Race experiences, Rockanje May 25th, 2002
In the National championship of the classics of this year, an ABSAF / SEELEY combination, painted in the colors of The Motorcycle Company, and driven by Dick Kegel, participated.
The History.
After a couple of years riding a Ducati 250 CC narrow case at the Ducati club race and in HMV and CRT events, Dick decided to try the KNMV classics. Because of the unsuitability of the Ducati , the decision was made to purchase an ABSAF / SEELEY .After deliberations with Harm, the project started. In June 2001 the building of the motorcycle started, to deliver the first blow in March 2002.
The Year 2002.
The first training in France didn't follow the planning; a lot of things needing adjustments did come up. After taking care of all the fine tuning, the first race announced itself.
In Eemshaven, in the most Northern part of the province Groningen, were the first two races, one on May the 16th and the second one on the 19th. The training on that Thursday morning went well and a number 18 starting position was not bad for the first time. In the afternoon race it went well and if in the last round the ignition wouldn't have been off time we would have had a nice 15th place. But we didn't despair, on Sunday we had another chance.
The first training on Saturday didn't go too well. After 4 rounds the engine cut out. It turned out to be the wire from the ignition. The second training went well, a starting place of 15 was the result. Sunday at the game everything went very well, after a good start and a good match with a couple of other racers we were flagged in at the 11th place . A fine result and the first 5 points had been won. All this above expectations.
The third race was the weekend of the 26th in Oss.
The first training didn't go well because the muffler came out of the exhaust pipe, only 5 rounds were driven. The result was an 18th place. The 2nd training went according to plan and was good for an 11th place to start. On race day the weather was nice. After the start this continued through the first chicane and soon there was a great rhythm. A couple of riders were close together, making for a good race, finishing in 9th place. A score of 7 points for a total of 12 points.
Again a result we didn't expect but are very happy with.
The next race took place on June 9th on the circuit of Assen, where we also participated in the Ducati weekend. We had our own booth with a big assortment of Sassi and Vee Two parts and a big assortment of rare used spare parts for Ducati's.
Dick Kegel was, with his DUCATI ABSAF/SEELEY a participant in the KNMV Classic race. After having a good training, receiving an 11th place to start, it went wrong in the race itself. During the start, Dick asked to much of the clutch and had to give up after 4 rounds. Even though he had a slipping clutch, he had put himself in 6 th place before having to give up.
As you say in English, "It's all in the game". We say, " Better next time".

Our web site is getting bigger and better.
You can now participate in a Poll , in which you can voice your opinion regarding motorcycle related topics and can compare your answer or opinion to the ones of others.
As a test we have added the position related to the laws regarding motorcycles and motorcycle riders. The moment we are writing this newsletter, it seems that 95% of the poll participants think there are too many such laws!
Because of the success of the MV AGUSTA day , in our next poll, we would like to leave it up to you to decide which of the following motorcycle should be honored on our next Theme day.
You may vote for:
- Norton
- BSA / ABSAF
- Triumph
- Smaller English brands (Vincent-Rudge-etc.)
- Smaller Italian brands(Gilera-Moto Morini- Rumi-etc.)
If you have any ideas for future poll questions or positions, please let us know. The most funny,- appropriate, intriguing subjects you propose, we will add to our polls.
